Cross and christ
The word crucifix comes from the Latin "cruci fixus" and means "cross-stitched", meaning the crucifixion of the crucified Jesus Christ on the cross. The vertical bar of the crucifix represents the relationship between God and man, where as the horizontal bar represents the relationships between the people.
It is already a long tradition that a beautiful carved wood cross with Christ as a symbol of the sacrifice of Christ is hung in many households. Even today, much emphasis is still placed on this tradition. Meanwhile, many modern crosses, which are often presented without a corpus, appeal. Especially the younger generation likes modern carved wood crosses.
